The Material Usage Descriptions window ( Job Settings )
- Descriptions entered here can be applied to a material on its General Information window.

Step-by-step instructions :
1 . To open the Material Usage window, use any one (1) of the following methods:
Method 1 : Home > Project Settings > Job > Modeling > Material Usage Descriptions .
Method 2 : In Modeling (classic) or the Drawing Editor (classic), choose Settings > Job Settings > Material Usage Descriptions .
2 . The Material Usage window opens. The left half of this window lists all of the usage descriptions that have been added to this window.
2a (optional) : To narrow the list to descriptions to specific material types, click the material types whose descriptions you do not want so that they are not checked (
).
2b : Go to step 3, 4 or 5.
3 . Optionally add new descriptions by doing the following:
3a : Click the " New " button.
3b : An entry dialog opens. Enter a " Usage description " of up to 30 characters, then select the " Usage material " type (' wide flange ' or ' channel ' or etc.) that you want the description applied to. Press the " OK " button to cause your newly added description to be listed (if the check box for the appropriate type of material is selected -- see step 2).
3c : Repeat steps 3a and 3b or go to step 2, 4 or 5.
Tip: You can apply a single usage description to multiple material types. Therefore, you do not need to list the same description for different material types.
4 . Optionally edit/erase descriptions by doing the following:
4a (optional) : To edit a description already listed on the Material Usage window, select the description in the list that you want to change, then press the " Edit " button. An entry dialog will opens. Optionally revise the " Usage description " to up to 30 characters. Optionally change the " Usage material " type (' wide flange ' or ' channel ' or etc.) that you want the description applied to. Press the " OK " button.
4b (optional) : To erase a description that is already listed on the Material Usage window, select the description in the list that you want to change, then press the " Delete " button.
5 . When done making changes to the Material Usage window:
Both "OK" (or the Enter key) and "Cancel" (or the Esc key) close the Material Usage window. Any changes made on the window were saved when the changes were made.
